In collaboration with our English distributor and the watch magazine WatchPro, a group of watch dealers and domestic as well as international journalists visited our historic production site in Ruhla on August 4th. Since 1892, watches and movements have been manufactured there — during the GDR era under the VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla brand in the millions. Because of this, Ruhla is considered Germany’s second “watch city,” alongside Glashütte.
After a guided tour of the watch museum, which is also located in our building, former head of development and production at VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla and founder of the museum, Artur Kamp, brought several of the historic machines to life and shared fascinating insights into the history and technology of watchmaking. The visit continued in the newly refurbished workshops on the fourth floor, where our guests had the chance to explore various assembly stations, observe watches and components at different stages of the assembly process, and take in the unique atmosphere of the site. Satisfied customers and journalists left with interesting stories and lasting impressions, making it a thoroughly successful event.
